Silent Presence
(25th of July 2007 - 15th of August 2007)
Description
In this exhibition, Des Rolph explores the vastness of the Australian landscape. At times, the figure who represents the spirit of the Min Min light,is found in the landscape to invite us to question our existence in the vastness of the outback. The figure playfully soars in streams of Min Min lights, both above and within the landscape. The dynamic use of colour and luminosity enhances the mood of the paintings which exude a powerful energy. Des has introduced some rarely produced self portraits in this exhibition that speak of herself as an artist - the serious side, interpreting her thoughts about painting the landscape, "Portraits of a landscape painter".
