Description

Known for her sensational use of colour and composition, Rolph's work now takes on deeper meaning exploring these themes which further enriches the dialogue in her work. In May 2005, she travelled to Alice Springs to experience the landscape she had a passion for. For her the only way to truly experience the distance from above was from the dizzy heights of a hot air balloon. The works in this exhibition are breathtaking, much like the physical presence of our landscape. For Rolph, she aims to have the viewer feel the emotion she experiences when she is captivated by the mood of the moment. In her words, "I want the viewer to feel what I feel, to know that the true beauty and mystery of our landscape, is not just what we see on the surface, but rather what it exudes into our emotions."
