Description

A shared passion for landscape painting has been the foundation for gathering together 4 Brisbane artists. The Purple Boot Collective, namely Pete Martin, Des Rolph, Karleen Gwinner and Vanessa Bliss, have explored our beautiful and mysterious landscape in various pockets around Queensland, Northern New South Wales and far west. Setting up camp and spending days surrounded by the landscape, talking, creating and breathing art, has loaded them with a rich source of material that enables them to keep creating. This passion further fuels the fire which has resulted in some stunning works, each uniquely individual.

The freshness and personal approach to each of these artists’ work is apparent on viewing. These artists have shared many fun moments creating, from dawn until dusk, and many a good conversation about art and life has been born from around the camp fire at night.

Their work over recent years has toured regional Queensland galleries, being sponsored by the Queensland Arts Council, and by individual regional galleries. Although the artists have developed strong solo careers exhibiting, this is their first showing in a commercial gallery together. In this exhibition the gallery will display a selected group of works to entice the public, with plans for a major show of new work at the gallery next year.
